“Engine 68 - Highbridge, Bronx”

FDNY Engine 68 is a 1985 Mack/Ward 1000 gpm pumper and is stationed with

49 Truck on Ogden Ave. just north of Yankee Stadium in the Highbridge section of the Bronx.
Engine 68 has been quartered in a number of firehouses on Ogden Ave. since 1898.

This Mack, the quintessential FDNY engine of the 1970’s and 80’s,

bears the name “Highbridge Hose Co. 1” under the visor.

Engine 68 is pictured as it might have looked in front of the stadium on
a late winter day in the 1980’s when the artist lived and worked in the Bronx.
